The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) concluded its 37th Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) on 31 August 2018. The week-long IGC 37, from 27 to 31 August 2018, is the third session under the new mandate for the 2018-2019 biennium. While the first two sessions, IGC 35 and IGC 36, addressed the genetic resources texts, IGC 37 addressed the traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions texts. IGC 37 was chaired by Mr. Ian Goss of Australia, with Mr. Jukka Liedes of Finland and Mr. Faizal Chery Sidharta of Indonesia as Vice-Chairs.
IGC 38 will take place from 10 to 14 December 2018. It will continue with addressing the traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions texts. An ad hoc expert group on traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions will meet on 9 December 2018.
