International Forum on Food Safety and Trade

The forthcoming FAO/WHO/WTO International Forum on Food Safety and Trade will address trade-related aspects of food safety, in particular, trade facilitation of safe food in the context of rapid technological change and digitalisation.

Date: 23 – 24 April 2019

Venue: World Trade Organisation, Geneva

Discussions will cover three thematic sessions: (i) digitalisation, food safety and trade; (ii) ensuring synergies between the food safety and trade facilitation agendas; and (iii) promoting harmonised food safety regulation in a period of change and innovation.

The meeting will engage participants, at the level of ministers and senior policymakers, representing various sectors in governments relevant to food safety, including food, agriculture, health and trade. Representatives from the United Nations and other international and regional agencies, development partners, food producers, consumers, research and academia are invited to participate.
