The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) has revealed the theme for this year’s World Intellectual Property (IP) as ‘Innovate for a Green Future.’ WIPO explains that it decided to focus on innovation, creativity and IP rights that contribute to a green future because the choices we make today will shape our tomorrow.
The earth is our home. We need to care for it.
IP systems that can support a green future include balanced geographical indications and plant breeders rights/farmers rights that encourage the sustainable use of natural resources.
The World IP day is celebrated on 26 April every year to share knowledge about the role IP plays in promoting innovation and creativity. For more on the World IP Day, see here.
