As of January 1, 2025, Dr. Titilayo Adebola was appointed and approved as the new Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the African International Economic Law Network (AfIELN) – The African Network of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL).
Dr. Adebola was the immediate past President of the AfIELN. She succeeds Professor Olabisi D. Akinkugbe who was appointed as Executive Vice President of the Society of International Economic Law in December 2024. Professor Akinkugbe served as the Inaugural Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the AfIELN from 2020-2024. He previously served as the AfIELN Present from 2018 – 2020.
Over the past two years, Dr. Titilayo Adebola and her team – Dr. Tsotang Tsietsi, Dr Regis Simo, Dr. Suzzie Oyakhire, Dr Harrison Mbori and Dr Ashimizo Afadameh-Adeyemi – have undertaken the first of its type activities for our AfIELN. In 2023 and 2024, they hosted two conference back-to-back in Ghana and Tanzania. To their credit, we have a completed AfIELN website also. Both conferences were a huge success. The rationale for the 2024 (“bridge”) conference was to bring the conference calendar out of sync and avoid conflict with the Society of International Economic Law Biennial conference.
